Commando is a Metal Slug clone with great graphics and pretty decent gameplay as well. Keyboard controls can be configured via the options menu, which does solve the problem of players clicking outside the window and disabling character movement by mistake.

The health gauge is a plus, though missing a jump still manages to prove deadly in many areas. Grenades can be replenished by breaking ammunition boxes, which also reveals additional weapons and bonus items.

Name: Commando
Developer: Miniclip
Category: Action
Type: Flash
Size: 1MB

Yes I'm biased (I both enjoy Commando and work at Miniclip) - and yes the default control scheme sucks.

The controls can be changed to a much better keyboard layout in the options menu.

The small size has nothing to do with adverts and everything to do with load time and game speed. If you check out the game released today you will see that because of the large size the sidebar has been removed, removing one of the adverts.

I'll correct the review. Apologies for the inaccuracies again.

I thought it was a decent Metal Slug clone, with some stirring music to boot. Control's not perfect, but it's big and bold for a flash action game. Entertaining.

Not bad, and I'm glad you can choose not to use the mouse at all, but I think I've just become bored with Metal Slug and any game that feels like it. Never been keen on flash games in general (how do ya get to play fullscreen and not in a browser?)

Still nice work at cloning the series.
